At C.I.M.S., classes are small and allow for highly individualized instruction. Through the core classes in Literature and History, students learn to become inquisitive thinkers while developing leadership skills. Subjects outside of our core offerings are tailored to student interest and offered through a personalized education plan. All students are expected to hone their skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, observing, and presenting.
JUNIOR School
Through a sophisticated and challenging language arts program, junior students learn to ask questions, work collaboratively, and engage with their studies in creative ways. Through a range of activities both in and outside of the classroom, students are nurtured and supported intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Students develop a genuine passion for learning and a strong work ethic, which will enable them to thrive in middle school and beyond.
Middle School
In the Middle School Program, students strengthen their critical thinking skills and gain the confidence to express their ideas, both in discussion and in writing. In the English curriculum, students learn to read more closely and begin to craft and defend arguments. In the History and Social Studies curriculum, students learn to draw connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world beyond it. Students enjoy the intellectual freedom to explore topics and question ideas, all while cultivating crucial skills in teamwork.
SENIOR School
The Senior Program challenges students to think originally and creatively, and to apply the skills they acquire in the classroom to other contexts and scenarios. The academically rigorous program offers students opportunities to explore, take intellectual risks, and examine themselves and their place in the world. The English curriculum exposes students to a range of texts, literary and theoretical, classical and contemporary, while the History curriculum, which is paired with an annual Experiential Learning trip, offers a deep dive into one specific country or geographical location each year. Students emerge as thoughtful readers, articulate speakers, curious thinkers, and ethical, compassionate leaders.
